    not your typical sci-fi

    ( a comment on website)

District 9 is a story about aliens who make contact with Earth and the relationships with humans and society. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare. Their sole interest, alien technology and weapons. Weapon research would mean huge profits for the company. Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley) is placed in charge of the filed operation to evict, remove, and place the aliens in a new holding facility. Conflict and tension threaten the operation as agents move in.

Don't be fooled. This isn't your typical alien sci-fi action movie. What got me was the believability. If there were aliens out there that were able to make contact with Earth, it seems it could have gone something like this. The way the perspective switches from mock documentary style to standard third person certainly contributes to it. "Real" news footage and interviewers tell the story in retrospect, as the events of the movie have already occurred when they are being interviewed. I think it all added to the realism of the experience.

Usually in these type of films, it's mostly mindless action and the story is lost. Not the case here. There's so much more to it. It's also about betrayal, loyalty, trust, relationships, and sacrifice. It can actually be pretty deep and thought provoking with many themes floating around. The film's really about the story which is really a fresh, gritty, original concept, which is good to see nowadays.

While the creatures can be most readily described as monsters, though they are like us. Family and friendship are still important ideals in their world. The film explores a fine line between human emotions and monsters. With all the selfishness, hatred, and greed within us, maybe we are the real monsters or at least that's how it can be perceived.

Neill Blomkamp does a tremendous job with the direction and realism of the film. Sharlto Copley blew me away. I was shocked to see this was his first acting role. The action sequences were well done as well. District 9 is a very unique sci-fi film, one that shouldn't be missed. Mind you, this isn't a film for everyone. It's violent, and many parts can be cringe worthy. Be warned but be ready for one of the best films of the year thus far.

Breaking: Johnny Depp's says he's not as enthusiastic for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' after dramatic turnover at Disney

Johnny Depp appeared at Comic Con 2009 to promote

his role in "Alice in Wonderland."

Hollywood was shocked Friday afternoon by the sudden dismissal/resignation (take your pick) of  Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook, but no one may have taken it harder than Johnny Depp.
Speaking to The Los Angeles Times late at night in London, Depp said Cook's departure had created "a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment" for the project.
Depp, who recently appeared at the first official Disney convention, D23 Expo, to support both his role as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" and the new "Pirates" movie, credited Cook with standing by his interpretation of the character Captain Jack Sparrow when others at the studio were questioning his un-Disney like direction.
Depp told the Times, "He's instantly trustworthy. And you generally don't meet people at the studios you trust. He's a rare beast."

The actor also said he currently has a potential deal in place for "Pirates 4" and whether he moves forward or not will depend on how good the script is, but was presently "shocked and sad" over the day's events.

。new era of it's genre
6)please don't give up on me......

Harvard Crimson says Holocaust denial ad published by accident

(CNN) -- Harvard University, one of America's premiere academic institutions, is coming under fire for running an advertisement in its campus newspaper questioning the reality of the Holocaust.

The former Birkenau death camp in Germany. It is widely accepted that about 5.7 million Jews died in the Holocaust.

The former Birkenau death camp in Germany. It is widely accepted that about 5.7 million Jews died in the Holocaust.

Recently named for the second straight year as the No. 1 school in U.S. News & World Report rankings of American colleges, Harvard is known for its rigorous scholarly standards and prestigious reputation.

On Tuesday, however, The Harvard Crimson, in what it said was an error, ran the Holocaust-questioning advertisement, which had been rejected by the paper over the summer.

In response to the commotion created by the ad, Crimson President Maxwell L. Child released a statement Wednesday citing three weeks of summer vacation between the submission of the advertisement and the publication of the paper as the explanation for why the ad "fell through the cracks."

"We want to stress that we do not endorse the views put forth in any advertisement that runs in The Crimson, and this case was no different," Child said in a letter to Crimson readers. "We will work hard to avoid such lapses in communication in the future, and hope our readers will accept that yesterday's error was a logistical failure and not a philosophical one."

The ad, paid for by Holocaust denier Bradley R. Smith and his Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust, primarily raises questions about then-Gen. Dwight Eisenhower's account of World War II and the existence of Nazi gas chambers.

It is widely accepted that approximately 5.7 million of Europe's 7.3 million Jews perished during the war. In total, historians say, between 11 million and 17 million people were killed by the Nazi regime, including religious and political opponents, ethnic Poles, Romani, Jehovah's Witnesses, Soviet civilians and prisoners of war, homosexuals and people with disabilities.

Smith said he is not surprised by the reaction because "it's taboo, and has been taboo from the beginning. When you break a culture-wide taboo, supported in theory and practice by the state, the university and the press, you create a fuss."

Smith said that he made the deal with the Crimson in July, but was never made aware of any plan by the newspaper to cancel his ad. While he has not yet received a refund for his pulled notice, he said he expects the paper to "do the right thing about the money."

Bernie Steinberg, president and director of Harvard Hillel, a Jewish campus organization, said on Wednesday that the advertisement was "obviously a shock to see."

But the group's students reacted appropriately, he said, and the incident should be seen as an example of "extraordinary mature student leadership in response to an unfortunate situation."

The Crimson was very responsive after many people in the Harvard community, including numerous members of Harvard Hillel, contacted the paper expressing their concerns, he said.

Harvard Hillel's student president, Rebecca Gillette, circulated a letter saying she thought the situation was being appropriately addressed. "The fact that organizations and individuals like that publicized in this advertisement still exist today is frightening and disturbing, but unfortunately it seems that Holocaust denial will persist for years to come," she said.

Robert Trestan, civil rights counsel for the Anti-Defamation League of New England, said Smith and his organization have placed ads in approximately 15 college papers around the country so far this year. He said he finds it shocking that such an advertisement would fall through the cracks, as Child said.

"Would an ad that questions whether the world was flat or that slavery never happened in America have fallen through the cracks?" he asked.

He said his organization will continue to work with college newspaper editors to educate schools that they don't have an obligation to publish questionable advertising.

Al Tompkins, a faculty member at the Poynter Institute, billed on its Web site as "a school for journalists, future journalists, and teachers of journalism," said he hopes this will become a "teachable moment."

"It seems to be a big mistake and obviously nothing meant to offend anyone," he said. Because student publications are meant to be teaching tools, "the key is not to not make mistakes, the key is how they respond to mistakes in a forthcoming and transparent manner," he said.

He recommended that the Crimson return any money associated with the advertisement.

Child's statement in the Crimson said that was being done.

    love and tragic

It was the night before yesterday, i was waiting for someone, someone i strongly felt special for and it's been only few days since i met her. The meeting was for really a short time, may be 5minutes just to show her something she came to see. After waiting almost half a day at home, finally I, not knowing why, came down onto the road side with thoughts of her on mind. Yes i was in love and i still am. The same old feeling had once again came to me as  i awaited in the drizzle leaning toward a tree. She was all i could think of. After quite a time i decided to go back which is something i should have done long before that. As a matter of fact, i shouldn't have come down in the first place. Love was doing that magic thing to me. It's crazy.  However never thought something like that would happen. How many times will one encounter such thing. On my way back on to the stairs, i heard this strange noice of a car knocking something with sudden brake. I ran out in quite a speed and there already people were dashing towards a taxi. The scene was quite hard to be. It was fatal. A tibetan guy, i assume with the mala around his wrist, was severely hit and i have never seen more blood. He was shaking and blood just wouldn't stop pumping out from his face, literally it's soaked. There were people who was trying to do something and actually none did for quite a time. A girl was crying, a man was saying there was no need for police or ambulance that that guy would die anyway before he gets to hospital. I was too scared of the scene to do what i thought be the right thing to do. Somehow i decided to do many wasn't trying to do. I got down and touched him with caring hand, coz there were guys pulling the man so hard that i could feel the pain when his head hung loose.  They were killing him though they meant for good. I hold his head very carefully and gently although even this is not the way how you act on something like this. but then it's lhasa. I was so close to his face and i saw it's not just blood. We put him on a small truck. He was finally carried to the hospital nearby. And as usual, by the time the ambulance comes by, the victim is either dead or sent to hospital already by some good hearted man. Through whole time i was saying mani like many other tibetan people, subconciously. There was blood all over my body and i saw the way people looked at me and all i knew was that there must be some superstitious sayings on blood stain and stuff. And i was partially unconfortable with other peoples blood on my hands. It's just such an odd feeling. I know my mother wouldn't have approved me of that if she was with me. Howerer, not long after all this, thoughts of her came back to me. It was a terrible feeling after what just happened. But i couldn't stop flashing her in my mind. It's for the second time that i felt this strong for someone. One thing that made me feel less of a guilt was the thought that one would have  no control over it when in love. May be it's the right guilt that i should feel and live for a while.
later that night, I told her how i feld and she said "No" in a very good and concerning way that i actually slept better than days before which was soooo not i expected. The answer was clear and cut. But then one can't not love one you love, right! love is love! you feel it and live it with joy and pain. you think you never gonna get over it and then you will before you know it. I am soo looking forward to it yet too soon to see the progress.
Most importantly, I really hope and pray that the guy will live to see his family again. Om mane padme hong!

It's my second time four-days trekking from Taktse county(dhushi village) to Samye monatery. Since it was merely planned for ourselves, thought it might take more than four days and atually planning on doing so so that we could have more fun wondering around and camping whevever we felt like. Although we did what we had in mind, if not more, it took four days and three night just like when i had to british women to guide last time. All in all, we had quite a great time. Met good people en route, took tons of pics. check out...................

    two died in motorbike accident

two days ago, on 29th of july,on our way back from Serche Lhatso a motorbike had been hit into pieces taking away two lives. From what i saw from the front window i could assume that they must be killed instantly. For some reason i didn't get out of the car to see how it was. later on i was informed that they were two local tibetan, one been carried away in a van and another still lying in the field waiting to be claimed. I felt terrible at that time and now i am feeling even worse coz we just couldn't cut us totall from the most hilarious picnic experience we had that day. Songs kept playing as we drove through. looks like everyone is living their own stories...two ended, two world just vanished. ...

    R.I.P. MICHAEL

i am sick.there are no words that possibly express the feeling i am going on with...so confused with every emotions possible. i even hated myself for haven't listened to his music in the past 3 years. Mike was, is and will be the most gifted, professional, loving, influential and the greatest in the history of pop and also one of greatest in the history of mankind. Even though his passing, just like for thousands of other fans, took away a huge piece of my childhood where at some point i thought he was god of a kind, however this seems so small comparing to what it meant for the world today where people come together as a family. We lost a figure to which people come out together of love and peace..for a better world. Though i was taught what bads and goods are in school but not as strong and clear a message  as mike sent through songs. i learned as a child that killing animals is bad, cutting down trees is bad and war is something we should prevent no matter what. May be it seems unreasonable or irrational..but he had been the best version of what an individual could have been in his shoes. I am sorry if he was ever happy, yet more than fortunate and lucky and grateful to had known him through his music and as the generation to have grown up with one and the only KING OF THE POP.
Now he is gone, a legend has gone, but his music and figure lives on through generations to come. My deepest condolences, if i may on behalf of all the tibetan fans who over the past two decades sang out loudly "beeray" instead of "beat it", go out to his family and children and all the fans around the world in the time of grieve and sorrow. May all the merits gained through the prayers and purest deeds go out to him at this moment.
    Rest in peace mike...

    Barack Obama
